I think that one thing that I have learned with having kids is, that there is never enough time. I mean, I am always wishing there was more time in the day, so that I could spend it with them. We do spend the days together, but the kids want to be independent, like when they are out playing with their friends, sure I may be weeding the garden and such, but honestly I am there watching my kids, their every move. I know they do not want me to follow them around and watch over their shoulders while they play, but I do try to stay close by. I do try to engage with them and their friends, like with the summer here, we have a sprinkler, and I try to get the kids to have fun in the water, or I will get the water guns out and start a water gun fight, just so I can be there with my kids. So when it comes to times that I know that I have the kids together and basically to myself, well I take advantage of that time. Like during meals. With summer, it seems that meals are kinda of a grab and run type deal, but I do try to make meals like our breakfast a sit down, where we can at least all sit down and enjoy a bowl of cereal together before they run off to play. Another great thing about us sitting down together and eating cereal in the mornings together is that when I serve my family cereals from General Mills, I know that they are getting 14 grams of whole grains as well as other great vitamins and minerals that they need to start their day off right.
