When it comes to the home, we have smells. Some good and some, well, not so pleasant, and when we are in our homes, we get used to those smells, we become what is called "Noseblind". Being noseblind is not a bad thing, in fact it is something that we can not help. As we live in our homes, we become accustomed to the smells, the good, the bad, and the down right ugly ones as well. For me, I know that when I have guests coming over, I might go around the house spraying smelly stuff, to try and make my house smell better knowing that in the other room there is a diaper pail sitting there, mocking me. I am aware that it has a odor, even though I do not smell it, and I do use those diaper pail cleaners, baking soda, and anything else I can find to mask the odors of those diapers that are in it, but the thing is, just because I can not smell it, does not mean it is not there.

I learned this truth recently, when I attended a noseblind study in New York with the people behind one of my household staples, Febreze! I learned that I am not alone when it comes to being noseblind, in fact, I met an amazing Dr., who explained the science behind the nose and our senses. I also, got to experience, the amazing power of Febreze, first hand, in a number of noseblind tests that we witnessed, and smelled during the event.

I mean, in my own home, yes, we do like seafood, we also have animals, which include a cat, 2 dogs, and a bunny, and not to mention I have a husband and 3 kids. So aside from those diapers that taunt me from the diaper pail that is in the boys room, hidden from site, and what I thought, hidden from smell, there are also a number of other smells that my house has. I guess you can imagine that when I was given the chance to conduct my own noseblind study, that I was initially in shock when I asked a couple of my friends to come over and be honest about the smells in my home. I mean, I did ask for the truth, and well, they gave it to me. I found that the diaper pail, the one that lingers in the back of my mind since I know what is inside of it, the one I try to mask the odors from with a number of products, can be smelled as others enter my home.

So many of you might be thinking, how was I able to conduct the Febreze Noseblind Study with guests. Well when they arrived, I made popcorn, as I had promised, and prepared for a movie. Due to us being moms, we decided instead of a evening movie, we would do a movie in the early afternoon so the little ones could take naps and the older kids who were not at camp, could play together and do some crafts. We were given surveys to take. Then I popped the popcorn, as the popcorn was popping, we took another survey. From there it was movie time.

Once the movie was over it was time for the next survey, then we had some coffee and talked. After the littles got up, we found some finger paints, then began our Noseblind Assessment. From there, we talked about the surveys we took, this is also when I found that my house smelled like a daycare and also a little bit like a pet shop, but a clean one, lol. Yay, not what I had imagined, but hey it is the truth of the smells in my home. After being told I had a stinky home that was clean but had lingering odors, I educated my guests with the Noseblindness education I was given and also told them about some of the things I had learned on my trip to NYC for the Noseblind education I received there.

After all the dirty truths of my home came out, and after we all learned and discussed what Noseblindness was, I went around and used some of the Febreze products I was sent, then we took our final survey. I was pleased to find that after spraying the Febreze products in my home, that those smelly diapers, were no longer a lingering smell, and my pets, well they were not a stinky issue any longer either. Instead, my friends said they loved the light and pleasant fragrance of the Febreze. They liked that it not only got rid of those odors, but it left a very nice odor behind that was not overbearing, but did the job!
